Right in the middle of a severe cold snap, the zipper of my old puffy coat broke. I ordered this product as a replacement. Received it in a matter of days ... faster than expected, actually.Pros--Length: The length is perfect for the urban public transit traveler. Standing at bus stops and train stations in the middle of winter is absolutely a nightmare without the benefit of a good coat. The arm length is perfect for me. They reach just below my wrists. My arms are a bit longer than average, so arm length in clothing has been a struggle. The cuffs are topped with a cozy knitting that stays put blocking the cold nicely.Warmth. I have to say this feels a bit warmer than my old faithful. I hadn't realized how worn out it was until I started wearing this. Also, the collar is padded. Very nice for those days when the wind is especially cutting. The hood is lined and zippered to the coat. There's none of those annoying gap holes from snaps that allow cold air to seep in.Construction: My primary complaint about winter coats for years has been the use of plastic zippers. They don't hold, they break, and they can frankly be a pain to zip up. This coat has a nice, metal zipper. No problems zipping it up or down; it also zips from the bottom.Lined Pockets: What a blessing.Cons--I live in the Northeast which can experience high Arctic winds. I've noticed that I can feel the wind coming through the stitching between the padding. Not a pleasant feelingThe length of the arms is perfect, as I've mentioned, but they are not very generous width wise in the upper arm region. I'm unable to wear too heavy of a sweater beneath the coat. Which is a problem since the stitching is a bit leaky. The pockets are a tad too shallow. I like that they zip (with metal zippers), but at max they'll hold one pair of gloves. Get those pockets a bit deeper folks, and you have a winner. That collar padding mentioned earlier is nice... except, the neck circumference is *really* tight. The collar should either be made larger or cut down on the padding. There's no room to wear a scarf, so if you do zip up to the top of the collar, you can cut the cold by snapping the hood under your chin.Be ready for a shock when you zip that zipper up fully... there's no barrier between your skin and the zipper. A small flap to guard against your skin freezing against the zipper would be nice. Especially since there's no room for a scarf!I swear, I do like this coat! LOL All in all, I am glad I bought it. It has saved my bacon big time this winter. Just stay out of the direct wind, and you'll weather the winter just fine.First off- the pockets are nice and deep. I don't know if they fixed the design or what, but I can hold my cell phone, and keys on one pocket and zip it comfortably. There's also what my family calls an FBI Pocket inside on the left breast so you don't need to put your phone in an outside pocket. The fit is great for me. I'm 5'6" and 290 lbs and the 4X fits me perfectly. There was no laundry care tag on the garment so I sent the seller an email. There is an unpleasant odor when you first open the coat and I'd like to wash that away. Here it the response from the seller:Thank you for your purchase. The coat can be washed in the washing machine gentle cycle. In cold water. Do not iron it or use detergent with bleach. After you wash just hang it to dry. Please note that the coat was packed in a plastic bag tired about 6 weeks. If you hang it for fee days the unpleasant odor should be gone. The coat should have care instructions on the inside seam on the left side of the coat about 15" inches from the hem.If you need any further assistance please let us knowThank youSince it's not yet winter here in NW IN I can't say how the coat holds up, but I did sweat a bit while trying it on so I'm hopeful. So far I am happy with this coat, the look and as much of the function as I could test. I will have to update this review as we get to the cold and blowing weather.Well, in my case, sizing up was a mistake. I normally wear an XL, but decided to go up a size due to reviews. The 1X is much too large for me. (I'm an hourglass, 5'7", 195) The navy color is in the middle, gray-blue spectrum. The sleeve length is good. I thought I was ordering a down coat when I purchased it. It's not actually down. I should have paid closer attention to the description! I ordered another coat for comparison, and the other is much warmer. It's the same length, but is 80% down. This down alternative coat weighs more, and is a bit bulkier. There is also a strange chemical smell. I am going to return it. I was hoping it would work, because it's a really good price, but I just prefer real down, and I would have to exchange for a smaller size if I wanted to keep it.For those scanning, I am 6'2" with a pretty narrow build. I took a chance and got the medium as I saw some reviews had mentioned the coat ran nice and long. This coat fits me perfectly. That being said, anything that actually fits me is probably something that runs a bit long. This coat hits my waist at a good spot and covers my entire thigh.I live in Chicago and am forced to be out in the thick of wet, nasty winters every year. I had a pea coat prior and it was a nightmare on windy days. I finally got this one (because you can NOT beat the price) and I'm a little upset it took me so long to get a coat like this. It's super warm but I never feel sweaty or overheated, it's cut nicely in the waist and creates a decent silhouette, sleeves are a good length, and it covers my thighs. The double zipper gives me some guff sometimes, but not a huge concern. Highly recommend!I love my coat!!! Just please remember that it does run somewhat small. I am 5'7" and 220lbs with a 42 DD bust. I usually wear size 18-20 and have ordered my coat XXL. It fits me perfectly, but if I wanted to wear a couple of layers, I don't think the zip would hold the coat comfortably. So, do go at least two sizes up when you order, especially if you have a big bust. Some of the ladies where complaining that the hood is too big. It is a bit big, but not bothersome, because you do have the strings that you can pull and shrink the hood. I have been wearing it for a month already, and I truly enjoy it. For my height, it comes to mid calf. It's not too heavy, to wear you down. Have worn it in sub-zero temperatures and while it keeps you warm, please be mindful that you will need a thick sweater underneath. This is not a coat to wear in the windy -30 degrees Chicago with just a T-shirt underneath. I hope this review helps. Because, I do enjoy my coat for my doggie-walkies. It is a good quality coat!!!
