Eddie Bauer Women's Superior Down Parka - Waterproof Winter Coat with Hood for Extreme Cold Weather - Perfect for Skiing, Snowboarding & Outdoor Adventures

As usual, Eddie Bauer has produced a well-made, very warm winter coat. The hood is large enough to be comfortably go over the head and it falls slightly to the front to protect from snow and sleet. I love it's length, as I can get in and out of the car without it riding up onto my lower back and keeps the tush warm when walking the dog. The 2-way zipper and large pockets were definitely pluses.I had to send mine back, however, because it was too tight in the chest/shoulder area. Also, the buckled on the sides were decorative, not functional.Although this coat is probably very warm, it is extremely heavy and bulky, probably most suitable for working on the farm in February in Minnesota or hiking on a glacier in Iceland (which was why I ordered it) but I'm afraid that just carrying it on your back for more than 15 minutes would exhaust you to the point of collapse. The Amazon product description did not reveal what the coat is filled with, nor did Eddie Bauer's website, but I discovered that it is filled with duck down and feathers, not goose down , and that's probably why it's so heavy. but Hey, if you don't care that you look and walk like a Grizzly, it's surely going to keep you warm and waterproofed.I just received this coat today. Temperature was 30 with a wind chill of 19. I was not cold at all. I felt no wind getting into the coat. I was a little concerned since several people said the coat was heavy. To me to pick it up it feels light to me. Not sure why they say it is heavy.It is not a warm winter coat. I feel cold air coming in through the coat especially around my neck. I would like to leave the fur on but when attached it hangs down in front of my eyes all the way to my nose. I do like the pockets and tough shell and design but I'm going to return it because I need a warm winter jacket.Very warm. The hood is spacious and keeps the wind from your face. The fit is perfect, with room enough to layer if desired. Lots of pockets.I'm confident I'll be able to get through this year's Michigan winter now that I have this coat to keep me warm.I bought a size up bcz I wear big sweaters underneath. Very warm. Wore it to a football game (37 degrees) and actually had to unzip bcz I was too warm. Love this coat. Get a lot of complimentsGot for my daughter for winter...she LOVES it!
